The War of the Worlds, by H.G. Wells

Book 31 of 100

After a series of events, I finally managed to get back to my reads.

For June, I went through the original science-fiction classic that later inspired several adaptations, including Spielberg’s film.

It’s always interesting going back to the source material after already knowing the story through a movie.

You recognize the major ideas, the invasion, the panic, the helplessness, but the book gives everything a different atmosphere.

There’s something more unsettling about watching ordinary people slowly realize that the world they understand no longer works the way they thought it did.

And considering how old the novel is, it still holds up surprisingly well.

Anyway, this one felt like a good way to get the reading gears moving again.

Time to rewire everything, get back into rhythm, and resume the usual course.
